Mabang Youth Angry at Highways Authority

Youth of Mabang a farming community in the Ahafo-Ano North District of the Ashanti region has demonstrated against Ghana Highways Authorities (GHA) for failing to construct speed ramps leading to killing of people in the community.

The group led by their Assembly members matched demonstrating to the district capital Tepa to present their petition to the DCE of the area Hon David Addai Amankwah.

They stated that 6 people have lost their lives in just a year due to the absence of speed ramps leading to speeding and reckless driving in the community.

They noted that lives of their children are at risk since most of them cross the road to attend to school.

The group emphasized that their chiefs have written several appeals to Highways Authorities to construct the ramps but all their effort has falling into death ears.

They therefore stated categorically that if by the end of the year nothing is communicated to them, they will advise themselves but declined to lay bare the said advise.

Divisional MTTU commander ASP George Amponsah for Mabang in an interview confirmed the killings by reckless driving and the absence of speed ramps saying “the entire community are worried and are living in fear for their kids”.

The District Assembly members received the petition on behalf of the DCE who at that time was in Kumasi to attend the ongoing policy fair
