The Men’s and Women’s movement of Evangel Church International (ECI) has organized a free medical screening exercise for residents of Alogboshie near Achimota over the weekend.
The free medical screening exercise which screened the residence of hepatitis B viruses and high Blood Pressure (BP) was aimed at letting people in the community know their health conditions as well as the existence of the church in the community.
Briefing Daily Guide about the exercise Mr. E. Tetteh Mensah the general coordinator of ECI said, the exercise was also part of their immense contribution to ensure that the members of the community were conscious of their health.
He told Daily Guide “we hope to screen about 1000 people within this community since this is our first exercise and we hope to increase the number in our subsequent exercises” he added.
He stated that the congregation will continue to provide free medical screening for the members of the community, adding “Our next exercise will focus on respiratory and dental related diseases” he emphasized.
He however used the occasion to appeal to the government to make medical facilities available at the various lorry stations to have periodic checks on long journey commercial drivers.
“Vehicles are given road worthy certificate; they are examining periodically what about those who operate them? The person gets up early in the morning sit behind the vehicle drive all the way from Accra to Kumasi and nobody examine him to see whether his pressure is high, whether his sugar level is low or high, if the person is feeling dizzy, before you realize the vehicle has vied off the road ” he noted.By Francis Yanchira Daily Guide.
