Konadu Curses Accusers

Civil Servants working at Tepa departmental block of Ahafo-Ano North district in the Ashanti region could not belief their eye when an NDC’s women organizer madam Afia Konadu storm the premises and cursed hers accusers.

Madam Konadu storm the premises which houses almost half of the government agencies in the district riding on a motor bicycle popularly known Okada and dressed in a funeral cloth with a bottle of Schnapps in her hands.

Without the attention of the workers, she shouted and started calling names of various river bodies and also mentioned names of some of the workers at the premises and cursed them in the process.

She accused those she mentioned their names as her witch hunters seeking her downfall, saying they have alleged that I have use the assembly’s money to build a house and buy a car in Kumasi, which she said was not true and therefore needed to take revenge in that hilarious manner.

After her incantations, she poured all the schnapps out of the bottle, left the empty bottle on the ground and quickly jumped onto the Okada which was awaiting her and took a French leave of the premises.

Daily guide later noted that not a lone is she women’s organizer for the NDC but also monopolizes the school feeding program of the district.

Political Parties tasked to Preach Virtue

Ashanti Regional Deputy Director for National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) Mr. Lord Larbi has tasked political parties to preach virtue towards December general elections.

Mr. Larbi said this during the inauguration of NCCE’s inter-party dialogue committee at Tepa in the Ahafo-Ano District of Ashanti region.

He said, the NCCE will work closely with various political parties and Chiefs at the District to attain violence free elections coming December.

“We should not preach virtue and practice bad as our violent act can vent the entire country” he stated.

NCCE District Director Samuel Kwasi Otchere on his part urged party representatives to be guided by the political party’s code of ethics issued by all political parties in the country, saying “is not your obligation to announce who is the winner or loser that work has been given to Electoral Commission”

He therefore preached against abuse of incumbency which seeks to frustrate minority groups from getting access to their part of the national cake.

The District Coordinating Director for the District Emmanuel Eddu during his closing remarks reminded participants to desist from alcohol and marijuana during their electoral campaigns.

He latter drew the curtains down by saying “all we need is peace before and after the elections”

The traditional council and the party representatives pledged to work hard to attain transparency whiles exercising the franchise.

Mabang Youth Angry at Highways Authority

Youth of Mabang a farming community in the Ahafo-Ano North District of the Ashanti region has demonstrated against Ghana Highways Authorities (GHA) for failing to construct speed ramps leading to killing of people in the community.

The group led by their Assembly members matched demonstrating to the district capital Tepa to present their petition to the DCE of the area Hon David Addai Amankwah.

They stated that 6 people have lost their lives in just a year due to the absence of speed ramps leading to speeding and reckless driving in the community.

They noted that lives of their children are at risk since most of them cross the road to attend to school.

The group emphasized that their chiefs have written several appeals to Highways Authorities to construct the ramps but all their effort has falling into death ears.

They therefore stated categorically that if by the end of the year nothing is communicated to them, they will advise themselves but declined to lay bare the said advise.

Divisional MTTU commander ASP George Amponsah for Mabang in an interview confirmed the killings by reckless driving and the absence of speed ramps saying “the entire community are worried and are living in fear for their kids”.

The District Assembly members received the petition on behalf of the DCE who at that time was in Kumasi to attend the ongoing policy fair

Accident free X’MASS Campaign Launched

Road accidents have claimed 1,679 lives and 1,771 injuries involving 5,684 vehicles Nation-wide from January to September this year, it has been revealed.

MTTU Commander for Ahafo-Ano North District of the Ashanti Region ASP George Amponsah revealed the statistics at a launch of a program for drivers on a theme “Accident free Christmas” at the district capital, Tepa.

ASP Amponsah braked down the statistics to the district level saying that the district recorded 123 road accidents with 411 injuries and 46 deaths last year.

“We have recorded 126 road accidents with 337 injuries and 39 deaths at Ahafo-Ano District this year” he noted.

He said thing could get worse if the drivers are not sensitize most especially during this festive month of December.

He stated categorically that the Nation loses about 418 million dollars annually in caring for accident related cases.

The District Police Commander ASP George Bawa advised the drivers to be mindful on how they speed and also desist from overloading.

Divisional Crime officer DSP Emmanuel Adu-Boahen on his part reminded the drivers not to take in any substances that could get them daze when driving.

He noted that 98 percent of the road accidents are as a result of human error hence the need not to take in anything alcoholic whilst driving.

Chief Superintendent Amo Ayisi on his closing remarks commended various drivers unions at the District for cooperating with the Police in fighting road accidents and advised them to get enough rest before setting off to work.

Mason Defiled and Impregnates JHS Girl

A 28-year-old mason, Kennedy Kofi Acheampong who would not satisfy his wife and directed his sexual desire towards a Junior High School pupil has been sentenced to 7-years imprisonment for defilement.

Kofi Acheampong, who lives in the same vicinity, Tepa Ward lll with the 14-year old pupil whose name has been withheld had numerous sexual intercourse with her, leading to pregnancy.

Narrating the story leading to the convicts arrest to Daily Guide, DSP Emmanuel Adu-Boahen said, on 28th February, 2012 the victims adopted parents noticed an unusual change in her behaviours, when interrogated she reveal that the convict has been sexing her on several occasion.

He further stated that the victim was sent to the District Hospital for scan, where the results revealed that the 14-year-old girl was 6 and half months pregnant.

He noted that, the convict was quickly arrested and arranged before the District circuit court where he accepted all the charges leveled against him and was sentenced by Justice Osei Kwame to 7-years imprisonment at the Kumasi central prison.

When Daily Guide contacted the victim’s parents as to whether they will be aborting the fetus they said they were Christians and will not afford to do such an ungodly thing.

DSP Adu-Boahen latter reveal that sexually related cases in the District are getting rampant since the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) in the District is on low tempo.
